Before you start — Do's & Don'ts
2 min readRead this once so the session goes smoothly. Once you're ready, hit Start interview.
Do's
- Use a desktop or laptop on Chrome, Edge, or Firefox — mic permissions work best here.
- Allow microphone access when the browser asks — the session can't start without it.
- Find a quiet room. Headphones help — background noise hurts your communication score.
- Treat it like a real interview — pause to think, then answer in full structured sentences (STAR for behavioural rounds).
- Make sure your internet is stable. Buy more time only if you're confident your setup works.
- Use Study mode first — the AI coaches you after each answer. Switch to Real once you're warmed up.
Don'ts
- Don't refresh the page mid-session — the interview will end. Unused minutes refund automatically.
- Don't open the same interview in two tabs — only one realtime session can run at a time.
- Don't go silent for long — the AI treats extended silence as "answer finished" and moves on.
- Don't read pre-written answers aloud — the AI detects unnatural pacing and your score drops.
- Don't expect a typed-chat experience — this is voice-first, talk to the interviewer.
- Don't use abusive language or try to break character — the session will be terminated without refund.

Mock Interview FAQ

How does the AI Mock Interview actually work?
Your browser opens a realtime voice connection to an AI interviewer. The AI listens, asks follow-up questions, and adapts to your answers — just like a human interviewer would. After the session ends, a separate AI model analyses the transcript and scores you across communication, technical depth, structure, confidence, and STAR usage. You can download the full report as PDF.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The interview runs entirely in your browser. You need Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari on a desktop / laptop (mobile works but desktop is recommended), a working microphone, and a stable internet connection. Headphones are strongly recommended to avoid echo.
What if my microphone doesn't work?
Before any minutes are charged, we run a pre-flight check — browser support, microphone permission, and a live audio-level test. If mic access fails, no minutes are deducted. Common fixes: allow microphone in the browser's address-bar prompt, close other apps using the mic (Zoom, Meet), and reload the page.
What's the difference between Study mode and Real interview mode?
Study mode is coached — after each answer the AI gives you a short calm critique (what was strong, what was missing, plus a polished example) and gently corrects filler words like "um", "like", "basically", or weak hedging. Real mode simulates interview pressure — the AI behaves like a real interviewer, pushes back on vague answers, and saves all feedback for the end-of-session report.
How is the interview scored?
After the session, a separate AI Model reviews the full transcript and produces a structured report covering 5 axes — communication, technical depth, confidence, structure, and depth — plus a STAR-format check for behavioural answers, code review (for technical rounds), filler-word count, speaking pace, strengths, weak areas, sample improved answers, and a personalised improvement roadmap. The report is downloadable as PDF, DOCX, or plain text.
What happens to my unused minutes if I end early?
Unused whole minutes are automatically refunded back to your interview-time balance the moment the session ends. So if you bought 5 minutes and ended after 3, you keep 2 minutes for next time. Time on your balance never expires.
What if my internet drops mid-session?
The browser will attempt to reconnect automatically. If the connection drops for more than ~30 seconds the session ends and any unused minutes are refunded. The transcript collected so far is preserved and used to generate a partial report.
Is the session recorded? Who can see it?
Only you can see your transcripts and reports. Audio is recorded locally in your browser and uploaded as a single file at session end so you can replay it on the report page. Audio is kept for 90 days, then permanently deleted. We never share your data with recruiters or third parties. Full details on the privacy page.
Can I retake the same interview?
Yes — start a new session anytime as long as you have interview minutes in your balance. Each session generates its own report, so you can track your improvement across attempts in the Analytics tab.
What interview rounds can I practise?
Five types: HR Screening (background, motivation), Technical (problem solving + your stack, with an in-browser code editor for programming questions), Level 2 / Manager (design, ownership, leadership), Behavioural (STAR stories), and Final HR (salary, joining, offer details). Technical rounds let you pick the industry and primary language / framework.
What if I want a refund?
Purchases of interview-minute bundles are non-refundable once delivered, but unused minutes inside a session are automatically refunded to your balance. See the full refunds policy for details.
